How to you take a screenshot of your iPhone?
I get asked this question quite a bit and it has a pretty easy answer.
Why would you need to take a screenshot?
You may want to record something on your screen for later, share an image from an app or share what your iPhone home screen looks like. If you’re having a problem with an app, you can screenshot the error your getting and send it to the developer. There are many reasons to do it – it’s just another fun and useful tool on your iPhone.
Process to take an iPhone Screenshot:
1. Hold Down Sleep Button and Home Button as the same time
2. Screen will flash White
3. Image is saved to your Images as a .png
4. E-mail or download to your computer like any other image
That’s it!

Doesn’t seem to work on my 3gS…?!
And of course now it does, thanks for the info
that was easy! thanks!
I can’t get the camera screen shot to work on my 3g and it used to.
What did I do to make it stop?
That was great. Got the screenshot i was trying to get on my iPhone
BTW, anyway knows if this works for the iPod Touch. The tutorial at http://dotdoh.com/?p=584 seems to suggest so.
Karen you just need to hold the sleep button to turn off phone. Then turn phone back on and the screenshot function should work like up above. I had same problem. Hope this helps you.
Developers who need to take screenshots from the iPhone Simulator can use iPhoneScreenGrabber by 24×7digital.com. It even composites the screenshot with the proper Apple artwork.
It doesn’t work on my 3GS
. I tried pushing those two buttons in 3 different ways. Only get the “slide to power off” screen. No screenshot. Darn.
